Abstract

Conflict is one of the challenges faced by school management, as it is a problem characteristic of social relations. After the COVID-19 pandemic, increases in violence in the school environment were observed. Conflict mediation strategies should be considered relevant to combating and preventing school violence. This is an applied research, of the pedagogical intervention type, based on a quantitative approach study, whose objective was to develop an ongoing program for mediation and management of conflicts faced by elementary school II students in the public school system of Macaé after the COVID-19 pandemic. The most frequent types of violence were identified through the analysis of incident records from the school units in the network during the years 2019, 2022, and 2023. Then, a proposal for a program for mediation and ongoing conflict management was developed. According to the results presented, an increase in some types of violence was observed in the public schools of Macaé after the COVID-19 pandemic and the year 2019 presented a higher number of occurrences of psychological/moral violence when compared to the years 2022 and 2023. In the year 2022, increases were identified in the occurrences of verbal, physical/material violence when compared to the year 2019 and; bullying when compared to the years 2019 and 2023. verbal, physical/material violence were identified when compared to the year 2019 and; bullying when compared to the years 2019 and 2023.
