Throughout history, signs of social inequalities based on body functions have been recorded, associating the supposed inferiority of women as something natural, mainly due to the weakness arising from pregnancy. And it didn't take long for the myth of male superiority to take off, being largely responsible for naturalizing the practice of sexual violence against women, who from that moment on began to be seen as the property of men. Therefore, this article aims to address the issue of sexual violence against cisgender and transgender women specifically, seeking to understand how they were seen in different periods of history and how this influenced the incidence of rape and others types of sexual offense to the present days.
