Abstract

The instability of the oil and gas market makes companies in this industry seek, at all times, to reduce costs and optimize processes. For this, efficient and lean management strategies are targets for companies to remain competitive. Lean Manufacturing is a philosophy that can help companies in any industry to stand out in the increasingly competitive market, eliminating waste in their production process and implementing tools that provide improvements. Using this perspective, this paper was developed with the objective of analyzing the application of the A3 method in a service company focused on the oil and gas market. The analysis was performed during the entire maintenance process of subsea wellhead tools, which includes several steps and activities, enabling the identification of bottlenecks and waste that generate excesses, adding to the cost reduction and competitiveness of the company in the market. The work was developed through a case study in a specific maintenance line of the company that, after an analysis of the KPI of viability of the contract, it was observed that this was at -13%, making it necessary to reduce the cost of maintenance of subsea tools. For this, the method chosen to be implemented was the A3 method, demonstrating its ability to direct the focus on the problems with the greatest impact on cost and enabling the identification of process improvements.
