Abstract

The present research aimed to map education data in Macaé/RJ in the period 2020-2021, in order, to understand the reality in the classroom (Context of Practice) in the post-pandemic period. To achieve this, some specific objectives were highlighted: to understand the legislation published during the pandemic period at the state and municipal levels (Text Production Context); know the dropout and failure numbers in the municipal education network in 2020 and 2021; raise students’ learning difficulties; understand the distance between the legal guidelines given by official bodies and the school's reading and understanding of legislative texts; analyze a sample of the Context of Practice of the Macaé municipal education network, in a comparative analysis with the Context of Text Production; Indicate post-analysis propositions for public management challenges; indicate possible paths to reduce the distance between the production of legislation and classroom practice. The field research took place through a case study in three schools in the municipal education network of Macaé/RJ. As a result, the research developed points to the worsening of non-learning during the pandemic period through remote teaching in the following skills: reading, writing and mathematical knowledge, mainly in Elementary Education. Once some points of weakness and strength have been identified, consistent educational policies can be developed to promote quality, enabling the reduction of inequalities, potentially expected to occur in the medium and long term. In addition to this, another point highlighted is the need for continued training, through the instrumentation and improvement of teachers to continue using technological tools in the classroom.
