Among the signs: aesthetics and semiotics

Abstract

The unmissable book Aesthetics & Semiotics (2019), by Lúcia Santaella brings together in nine chapters different clippings on the relationship between Semiotics and Aesthetics. In mapping these approaches, the scholar uses and contributes to the understanding of the semiotic conceptual elements that are capable of leading to a better understanding of aesthetics and vice versa. Although she emphasizes modern and contemporary artistic creations, the researcher does not exempt herself from accessing the productions of previous temporal clippings, when necessary to understand the perceptual effects that sharpen the senses.
