The child's emotional development is one of the decisive factors for the construction of his identity, so the more the child is able to identify and distinguish emotions, externalize and regulate them, the more easily he will become a balanced individual with good relational skills. The kindergarten teacher must therefore help children in the construction of this identity process and in relation to otherness, promoting appropriate and stimulating activities that provide their emotional development. In this sense, it is intended, in this paper, to account for an action-research project, implemented in a pre-school context, which had as a privileged pedagogical resource the book of aesthetic and literary quality. The results obtained will allow us to draw conclusions about the implemented project and the immediate contribution that it implied in terms of the child's holistic development
